AIR1 Universal Miniature Windscreen Introduced by DPA Microphones

Designed for quick installation on round head omnidirectional or lavalier microphones from 2.5 to 5.8 mm in diameter, the AIR1 is ideal for the demanding environments of broadcast and professional content creation applications. Its groundbreaking, patent-pending design provides highly efficient and uniform wind attenuation with unsurpassed acoustic transparency.

The newly developed acoustic skin is characterized by a fine tuning of the fiber length, the material, the density and the inner lining. The second layer of protection maintains a constant head-to-capsule distance and air volume in the air cavity surrounding the microphone. This is achieved by two stable arches and a microphone stop, ensuring optimal positioning in the acoustic sweet spot.

Constructed of an extremely durable, UV-stabilized hard plastic similar to that used in car headlights, AIR1 can withstand harsh weather conditions and frequent use. To hold the microphone securely, DPA has used a stainless steel spring that will not tear or wear out, unlike the elastic rubber bands used in traditional windshield accessories.

The AIR1 is not only compatible with DPA lavalier and headworn microphones. It is also compatible with most professional miniature microphones from other manufacturers. Available in two sizes and six colors (black, brown, beige, white, off-white, gray). Two matching sized and colored windscreens are included.
