MADI AVB interface with superior analog connectivity

The RME AVB Tool offers 128 AVB channels, up to 128 MADI channels, four analog input channels for microphone, instrument and line signals in excellent converter quality and the same number of analog outputs for headphones and line out - a valuable multitool for a wide range of applications.

Router, microphone preamplifier, MADI-AVB converter and more

The RME AVB Tool combines MADI and deterministic AVB network audio signals with four high-resolution microphone, instrument and line inputs as well as a headphone output and separate line outputs. Following RME's concept of maximum versatility and connectivity, the developers have extended the 12Mic in 19" format by 128 MADI input and output channels.

High-quality analog Inputs

The AVB Tool is a transparent analog converter for the most common analog signals in control rooms, recording studios or on stage: four XLR combo inputs with remote gain control up to 75 dB in 1 dB steps, +18 dBu line input sensitivity, Hi-Z switchable on each channel, one stereo headphone output and two analog line outputs with switchable reference levels (+ 4 / + 19 dBu).

The AVB tool provides seamless redundancy of all MADI signals by mirroring the secondary MADI port with the same signal as the coaxial MADI input. If redundancy is not required, the optional optical single or multimode MADI module can be used as a single MADI I/O with full bandwidth.

Gigabit-AVB with 8 Streams

On the AVB side, the number of available streams in the RME AVB Core has been doubled. The AVB tool now allows eight streams in AM824 format (legacy AVB) or in high performance AAF format (MILAN compatible), including configurable size and format per stream. Up to 128 audio channels can be sent and received across all streams.

The AVB tool uses the same input stages as the first four channels of the 12Mic and combines components of the Fireface UFX II and UFX+ in a new AD converter, supplemented by switchable Hi-Z inputs, balanced stereo line inputs and two balanced line outputs for monitoring on the front panel.

Plug'n'Play - Fast user interaction

All device statuses can be controlled directly via the front panel using a rotary knob and several buttons, providing convenient and direct access to all functions. In addition, the RME AVB devices can be controlled remotely via a web interface or any network connection (incl. W-LAN), allowing for quick creation of gain groups, activation/deactivation of phantom power, and routing of signals to the headphone output for monitoring purposes.

The integrated routing matrix allows fast routing of any analog input - as well as all digital signals and AVB streams - directly to the headphone output. This way, signal, clock, connection, or other problems can be solved easily and efficiently.

SteadyClock FS

Clocking is critical to digital audio. It is the reference for the sequence of audio bits. Unfortunately, this reference clock is often not as stable as it should be. The AVB tool therefore offers full SteadyClock FS support for lowest jitter and highest jitter immunity.

This guarantees outstanding performance in all clock modes and high-quality analog conversion so that you hear your mix as it really sounds. The digital format conversion in RME products is lossless, and SteadyClock FS ensures that a precise and unadulterated sound image is always output. This helps to optimize recordings and mixes, as the overall sound spectrum gains depth and clarity.
