RME Digiface AES
192 kHz digital USB interface
with AES/ SPDIF/ ADAT/ analog I/O
The Digiface AES is a professional bus-powered USB 2.0 interface with 14 input and 16 output channels. It features 2 analog mic/line input channels and 4 analog output channels (2 XLR, one jack) to complement the digital I/O section. With its excellent digital connectivity, SteadyClock FS, full standalone operation and built-in parametric EQ, the Digiface AES is the perfect all-in-one solution for recording and playback of digital and analog sources as well as for flexible playback/monitoring via TotalMix FX.
Various digital input and output connections
The extensive digital inputs and outputs, grouped around an AES/EBU input and XLR output, also include SPDIF coax, SPDIF optical, or 8-channel ADAT. All inputs and outputs can be used simultaneously, making the unit a Swiss Army knife that receives and transmits all popular digital audio formats. An integrated SRC (Sample Rate Converter) can be switched to one of the three inputs to solve clock problems and adapt to other sample rates.
Buspower compatibility meets flexible analog I/O performance
For the analog inputs, RME uses the proven Mic/Line preamps in XLR combo configuration of the Babyface Pro FS - two digitally controlled preamps with individually switchable 48V phantom power. These circuits feature a gain range of 75 dB, adjustable in 1 dB steps. The result is exceptional EIN (Equivalent Input Noise) performance and high overdrive protection, but also sufficient gain for even low-level microphones.
On the rear panel of the Digiface AES are 2 balanced analog outputs via XLR jacks to drive power amplifiers or active monitor speakers, or to record. The headphone output allows additional and independent monitoring in high quality and provides enough output power and volume for headphones with high and low impedance.
Full standalone functionality
Convenient, direct access to all functions and control of the device is available directly from the front panel. Four buttons and the encoder, the high-resolution and clear color display and a well thought-out menu structure allow quick changes and configurations of the device. Six different device configurations can be stored in the internal memory. With these, the interface transforms into completely different devices with a simple push of a button, which is especially useful in Standalone mode. In addition, TotalMix FX can also be controlled externally via MIDI.
Femtoseconds to clock
With SteadyClock FS, the Digiface AES features RME's latest clock and jitter suppression technology. Based on femtosecond clocking, SteadyClock FS reduces intrinsic jitter in conversions to and from analog across all digital formats to a new all-time low.
TotalMix FX & DigiCheck
The Digiface AES comes with the TotalMix FX DSP mixer, which offers comprehensive & routinga nd monitoring options, as well as the DIGICheck analyzer, which analyzes digital data in both the recording and playback streams with the highest precision.
