The MC1.2+ solves a central problem in professional recording studios and demanding home recording setups. The increasing number of devices with different digital interfaces makes it necessary to convert the audio formats so that the devices can communicate with each other. The MUTEC Digital-to-Digital Converter is the solution. It converts audio streams between the established formats USB, AES3, AES3id and S/PDIF. It provides a comprehensive number of necessary input and output interfaces for these audio formats. The formats can be converted in both directions simultaneously. For the first time, the MUTEC DDC offers bidirectional conversion via the USB connection to the computer.
Audio streams received at the USB interface are always converted simultaneously to all other PCM audio outputs. This allows multiple receivers to be connected to a single computer. When one of the PCM audio inputs is selected, the incoming signal is not only output to all digital audio interfaces, but also converted to a USB audio stream and sent to the computer. Both signal paths can be used simultaneously at the same clock rate. This makes it possible to connect effect devices to the computer, or to connect recording devices where the monitor path needs to be sent back to the computer at the same time as the recording.
Ensure standards-based conversion
The conversion process changes the audio formats according to the specifications of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This avoids signal format incompatibilities that can occur with equipment from different manufacturers during the conversion process.
Versatile in its use
Format conversion via the MC1.2+ makes it possible to integrate a high-quality D/A converter without a USB interface into a USB-based audio system. The MUTEC interface gives you the option to use the BNC interface in the playback chain, which has optimal electrical and shielding properties. The incoming signal from any interface is simply routed to the BNC output.
USB signal regeneration to improve the sound quality
The MC1.2+ does much more than just convert audio formats. Its newly developed asynchronous USB interface improves the audio stream through signal regeneration and isolation of the USB power supply - significantly better than previous solutions. The interference previously introduced by the USB power supply can no longer have a negative impact on the digital signal processing. This results in a significant reduction in digital noise and clock jitter. This improvement in sound quality is beneficial to anyone producing music, whether in the studio or at home.
Three ways to get powered up
The MC1.2+ has three power options. It can be powered directly from the USB port, making it ideal for mobile use. For stationary use, the high quality internal power supply provides clean power. The MC1.2+ has a separate DC input for tuning with a low-noise external power supply. A display on the front panel shows the current selection. It is part of a proven operating concept in which several rows of clearly grouped LED chains ensure that the user always finds the desired function and is informed about the respective status.
Solid appearance
The MUTEC digital-to-digital converter stands on special, vibration-damping rubber feet and radiates a high level of quality, not least thanks to its sturdy, shielding sheet steel housing. The aluminum front panel is available in black or silver, allowing the unit to blend harmoniously into a hi-fi system or studio rack. For rack mounting, the chassis feet can be unscrewed and optional rack brackets can be attached to the side of the unit. Reliable high quality is guaranteed by manufacturing in Germany.
