Osmose 2.0 major free update released

Expressive E is pleased to announce the first free major update to MPE's flagship synth, Osmose. The 2.0 update adds a brand new browser system, program change CC support and two new external midi play modes (press glide & mpe arp). The Osmose 2.0 firmware update is now available free of charge to all Osmose users.

Osmose 2.0: check out the new features

The Osmose 2.0 firmware introduces important features in three areas: The preset browser has been redesigned; new external MIDI playback modes are available; and a soundbank system has been added.

The new 2.0 browser now supports favorite presets, and the number of presets has been greatly expanded from 128 to 2048. In addition, 30 custom user playlists (128 presets each) can now be used. A user-friendly integration of Program CC changes now allows Osmose users to easily switch presets using standard midi messages from software and controller sources.

Exciting new external midi capabilities have also been added, making Osmose as expressive as a midi controller as it is as a standalone synthesizer. Osmose users can now explore the Press Glide & MPE Arpeggiator features with all their favorite software and hardware synthesizers.

Last but not least, presets are now grouped into soundbanks. This completely new preset management system will pave the way for future releases, bringing even more expressive sounds and presets to Osmose!

 

What’s new in osmose 2.0?

External MIDI Mode

• The MPE Arpeggiator and Pressure Glide are now available in External MIDI mode. Both work with any MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) compatible software or hardware.
• Osmose now allows you to save custom MIDI configuration presets.

Sound Engine Mode

• Up to 2048 onboard presets, each with custom sensitivity and play function (arp and press glide) settings as needed.
• Add any preset to your Favorites list with the new Favorites feature.
• A new playlist system for quickly organizing groups of presets.
• A new workflow for navigating the Presets menu to take advantage of all of the previously previously mentioned features.
• Improved Program Change and MIDI Bank Select (CC0) implementation, compatible with the previously mentioned features.
• A new sound bank management system that allows uploading new preset banks from the Osmose banks from the Osmose Updater software in the future.
