Der Vorteil von Talkback
Talkback is now available to users. This feature allows sound engineers to talk to artists through their playback system (headphones, etc.).
Imagine working with a singer in a vocal booth. Instead of asking the artist to come into the control room to give you notes, you can have a two-way dialogue with them while they remain in their zone without interrupting the session. The update does not use the microphone input of your interface, but rather the built-in microphone of your computer or a USB microphone connected to the computer. A good alternative to the internal microphone is the Apogee Mic Plus.
To activate Talkback, simply click the microphone icon on the toolbar.
Routing Optionen
By default, talkback is output on playback channels 1 and 2, which is a good place to start. This is probably the same signal that your musician hears through his headphones and that your main monitors receive by default.
Assuming you have an interface like Symphony Desktop that has multiple headphone outputs, you can choose where the sound goes. For example, if you are using one headphone for monitoring while your artist is using the other headphone output for their headphone mix, you can route the signal to a different output, such as 3 and 4.
Regardless of the creative application, you create these routings using a new feature in the sidebar of Control 2 called Talkback Settings. You can also select which microphone to use as the talkback source.
Remote Control Kompatibilität
If you always want to have your talkback at your fingertips, you'll love our next feature: Apogee's Control Hardware Remote now works with USB interfaces! This is a great solution for anyone who prefers to push a button rather than switch between their DAW and Control 2 software.
What does it do? Quite simply, it allows you to use all the features of the Control 2 software.
The buttons are preset, but the great thing about the remote is that you can easily assign them to the functions that best suit your workflow. Make sure the remote is connected to the same computer as your interface and click the Remote Assign icon on the toolbar:
The "knob" can be used to adjust the headphone or monitor volume, while the 1-4 and A-D buttons can be assigned to the functions best suited for that purpose. 8 buttons not enough? Don't worry, we've got more. You can now store "presets" of remote control functions. This allows you to recall different functions and assignments.
Oh, did we mention that you can use up to 4 remotes, each with independent presets? The possibilities are endless.
