MicroLock®

MicroLock is a fail-safe microphone connector that offers reliability, durability and robustness, ensuring sound engineers can rely on their equipment in any situation. It allows microphones to be used with transmitters from different brands, eliminating the need to buy a new microphone for each system. In other words, you are no longer tied to a single wireless system.

MicroLock is fully backwards compatible with the MicroDot connector. This means that MicroLock parts can be assembled with MicroDot parts and function as if they were MicroDot type.

Please note that the locking function is only available when both the male and female parts are MicroLock.

The advantages of MicroLock are as follows

  • Flexibility - cost effective and compatible with many wireless systems via adapters
  • Reliability - secure locking and stable connection reduce the risk of accidental disconnection
  • Durability - rugged, reliable and designed for continuous daily use
  • Compact - ideal where space is limited

Using MicroLock

MicroLock is connected in exactly the same way as MicroDot. The only difference is that you don't have to screw the connector all the way in - the connection is secure and the connector is considered to be in place once you hear the click or feel the tactile feedback. The click is generated by the locking teeth being compressed by the spring to ensure that the connector does not accidentally come loose until you actively unscrew it.

To release MicroLock, pull the sleeve back slightly (0.5mm) to compress the spring that locks the teeth and release the lock. The connection can then be released as normal using a MicroDot.

What's the difference?

The main difference between MicroLock and MicroDot is the locking mechanism, which provides an extra layer of security and protects the connector from accidental disconnection during use.

The diameter of MicroLock is slightly larger than that of MicroDot (Ø 6.6 mm/0.26 inch compared to Ø 5.6 mm/0.22 inch). In addition, the colour of the insulator inside the connector has been changed from red for MicroDot to DPA green for MicroLock to ensure quick identification.

To release MicroLock, pull the sleeve back slightly (0.5mm) to compress the spring that locks the teeth and release the lock. The connection can then be released as normal using a MicroDot.

Can I use my old MicroDot with MicroLock?

Yes. MicroLock® connectors are fully backwards compatible with MicroDot connectors. This means that MicroLock® connectors can be mated with MicroDot connectors and will function as if they were MicroDot type.

Please note that the locking function is only available when both the connector and the receptacle are MicroLock®.

Will the introduction of MicroLock® change microphone specifications?

The introduction of MicroLock® does not affect the specifications of the microphones. The only technical specification affected is the type of connector.

Will the MicroDot and MicroLock® versions be launched at the same time?

Once the transition to MicroLock® is complete, the MicroDot variants will be discontinued. The MicroDot variants are available while stocks last. It is planned to discontinue production of MicroDot within 12 to 18 months after the launch of MicroLock®.
