Digiface Dante
256-channel, 192 kHz USB audio interface
A lightweight, portable audio interface that combines Dante network connectivity and features with everything RME is known for: USB 3, MADI, TotalMix FX and excellent options for USB and standalone operation.
The Digiface Dante uses RME's advanced drivers for Windows and MacOS with lowest latency and industry-leading stability. TotalMix FX not only offers flexible routing, but can also manage as many independent submixes as there are outputs. The high-quality headphone output offers fast monitoring of all audio channels or can be used as line output for an additional analog stereo mix.
Connections and features
- 256 channels: 128 in / 128 out
- 64 channels Dante / 64 channels MADI
- 4 x Gigabit Ethernet (802.3 compliant)
- 1 x MADI I/O coaxial I/O
- Headphone output (DC-coupled)
- Wordclock I/O
- USB 3
- Bus-powered
- TotalMix FX
RME has switched the two BNC connectors for word clock I/O to MADI I/O for up to 64 channels. The sum of Dante and MADI, i.e. 128 channels, is transferred via USB 3.0 and can be processed with the Dante Control Software and TotalMix FX.
Equipped with two banks of redundant network ports, the Digiface Dante is more than just an audio interface. It also offers the functionality of a switch, connecting up to four network cables.
Without USB, the Digiface Dante automatically becomes a 64-channel Dante / MADI converter. The analog stereo output can be preconfigured to output exactly the channels you need.
TotalMix FX and TotalMix Remote
Like all current RME interfaces, the Digiface series is equipped with the powerful digital real-time mixer TotalMix FX. It can perform almost any mixing and routing operation with all inputs and playback tracks on all hardware outputs.
The mixer has numerous features such as a control room section with talkback, main/phones, fader groups, mute groups, full remote control via Mackie and OSC protocol, and much more. The Digiface series does not support DSP-based effects (FX) such as EQ or reverb.
TotalMix Remote extends the capabilities of RME interfaces with remote control via iOS, PC or Mac. With a simple setup - just enter the IP address of the computer you want to control with TotalMix Remote - every aspect of TotalMix FX on a host system can be adjusted while moving around the studio with the tablet, no matter where the control room is located in the facility.
RME DIGICheck
DIGICheck is an absolutely unique tool for testing, measuring and analyzing the digital audio stream. The software is so easy to use that anyone can understand it, but it still includes detailed online help if you get stuck. DIGICheck works in parallel with any other software and can currently display all input data. And best of all, it is available for free to all owners of an RME audio interface!
Dante & MADI
By integrating the MADI drivers (Mac/Windows) of RME's renowned MADIface series, the Digiface Dante offers up to 64 Dante channels as well as the transmission of up to 64 MADI channels via USB 3.0. The two BNC connectors for word clock I/O can be switched to MADI I/O. The 128 Dante and MADI channels can be conveniently controlled via the included Dante Control software and the DSP-based RME TotalMix FX mixer with its extensive routing and monitoring options. Among other things, TotalMix FX allows the creation of independent submixes depending on the number of available outputs.
On the network side, the Digiface Dante features two banks of redundant network ports that can be used as inputs and outputs, as a network switch, or for secure redundancy operation with primary and secondary networks. The interface can also be used as a mobile 64-channel Dante/MADI converter without a USB connection to a computer.
In addition to the USB 3.0 port, the Dante network connectors, the word clock I/O connectors and the power supply connector, the Digiface Dante features a high-quality headphone monitoring output that can also be used as a line output for playback of an analog stereo mixdown.
