HDSP Synchronization Module

This small module provides the word clock input for the HDSPe card and synchronizes to LTC and video. Thanks to SteadyClock(TM), the TCO not only extracts the absolute position from LTC, but also a very clean low-jitter word clock from LTC and video. This ensures accurate timecode synchronization of samples to audio or video sources.

A single TCO can be used with different HDSP/HDSPe cards simultaneously (Multicard), if connected to a supported card.

Features

LTC can be exported and generated in all common formats (i.e. 24, 25, 30 and 29.97 frames); dropped or non-dropped frames. Commonly used pull-up and pull-down formats (+/- 0.1% and +/- 4%) can be used, and PAL and NTSC video formats are automatically detected and processed.

The received time code can be sent to audio or video applications as ASIO Positioning Protocol (APP) or MTC. The application can send the APP to the TCO, which generates the lowest jitter LTC at the hardware level (Windows only). Several flywheel functions facilitate catch-up operation (adjustable drop length, continuous or jam synchronization).

Under Windows, TCO provides SMPTE position as APP (ASIO Positioning Protocol) and MTC synchronization. Under MacOS, TCO provides SMPTE locations as MTC sync only.

TCO has a combined switchable word clock/video input (BNC) and LTC input (BNC). The card's word clock/video input can be easily terminated (relay control) via the 75 Ohm terminator in the settings dialog.

The TCO also has an additional LTC output (BNC) with two level settings (configurable by jumper).
