The new DPS-2 is an exceptional linear power supply that not only boasts impressive specifications, but also a number of unique and highly useful features. For example, the compact unit has two differently filtered outputs. The case and the front panel of the DPS-2 are based on the ADI-2 series, thus accommodating RME's innovative circuit design on half the rack width.
Two outputs - HF filter and DC filter on the mains side
The output "LINEAR" is a traditional DC output but is equipped with multiple stages of passive and active filtering including a 30,000µF capacitor bank, a ferrite choke and an active output filter with hybrid voltage regulator.
The second output is based on RME's proprietary μFilter technology. The signal from the pre-filtered linear output is also processed by highly efficient active filters to achieve an exceptionally clean DC output with only a few μV (microvolts) of noise. In addition, the output features sensor technology that measures and adjusts the output voltage directly at the DC connector of the supplied DC cable. As a result, the output impedance and load regulation are extremely low, ensuring a clean output voltage of +12.0V at 2.5A load, completely eliminating any load dependent voltage drop.
The additional use of a 2-stage HF filter and a DC filter on the AC mains side enables the DPS-2 to deliver optimum performance without interference. The 60 VA audio toroidal transformer with additional isolation winding and magnetic tape shielding also ensures absolutely hum-free operation in all situations.

If necessary, the GND lift switch can be used to disconnect DC ground from PE (protective earth) to eliminate humming or buzzing. In this case, safety is not compromised as the primary part and housing remain firmly connected to PE of the mains supply. In addition, the DPS-2 is supplied with a ground terminal screw connection to ground other equipment or to use a different ground to PE for the audio power supply.
The DPS-2 has two status LEDs on the front panel to provide a quick overview of operating modes and fault conditions (power, thermal and power overload, undervoltage, short, active output). A recessed push switch on the front panel allows the user to activate an AutoDark mode where the LEDs only light up on power-up and fault conditions.
