Balanced headphone amplifier
The Lake People PHONE-AMP G118 is a high quality headphone amplifier in a 19" cabinet. It is based on the technology of the popular PHONE-AMP G111 and offers additional features such as mono/stereo/phase-reversal switching, pre-gain, X-feed and VU metering. The amplifier has two balanced inputs, a slave output and offers high output power, making it suitable for various types of headphones. The pre-gain control and X-feed system allow the headphones to be optimally adjusted for a fatigue-free listening experience.

Symmetrical design
The G118 is fully balanced from input to output and headphone amplifier. This ensures the highest level of noise immunity and sound fidelity.
High-performance headphone amplifier
The integrated headphone amplifier is based on two G111 amplifiers and has four output stages for driving balanced headphones. With an internal operating voltage of 50 volts and high output power, it is suitable for both high and low impedance headphones, including magnetostats.

High-quality components
The G118 uses only the highest quality components, including gold-plated XLR connectors, an Alps RK27 potentiometer with a 41-step detent for volume control, and a solid 25mm aluminium knob.
Unbalanced and balanced
The Lake People PHONE-AMP G118 has two different headphone sockets: a 6.3 mm jack socket and a 4-pin XLR socket. "Normal" headphones can be connected to the 6.3 mm jacks. These are unbalanced headphones. Balanced headphones can be connected to the 4-pin XLR socket. This allows the full potential of the headphone amplifier's four output stages to be utilised. Balanced headphones use separate wires for the positive and negative signals of each channel, which helps to reduce electromagnetic interference and improve sound quality.
Listening without compromise
A unique front-panel pre-gain function with 6 switch positions from -18 to +12 dB allows optimal adjustment to any headphone. The switchable and adjustable X-feed function effectively reduces "in-head localisation" for fatigue-free headphone listening, almost like listening to speakers. All outputs can be muted using the mute switch. The red LED also indicates protection status, which is automatically activated in the event of a fault.
